Short Biography

Dr. Anthony Rios is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security and the Founding Director of the Center for Data Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and his B.S. in Computer Science from Georgetown College in 2011. His multidisciplinary research focuses on natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with applications in healthcare, cybersecurity, and social computing. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers in leading venues in natural language processing, artificial intelligence, security, and biomedical informatics, including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, AAAI, USENIX Security, JAMIA, Bioinformatics, and AMIA. Dr. Rios is a recipient of the NSF CRII and NSF CAREER awards and has received a distinguished poster nomination at AMIA and a best paper finalist award at IEEE ICHI.
